Hatch End Lawn Tennis Club was the venue for a recent talk by tennis psychologist Merlin van Den Braam who has a Masters in sports psychology from Loughborough University and has worked with the International Tennis Federation, having been a member of the coaching team for the 2012 and 2014 ITF international touring teams travelling to Grade 1 events on the ITF Junior Tour.
Merlin’s talk to a packed clubhouse covered the mental game of tennis and gave members strategies to elevate their levels of commitment, confidence, concentration and control of emotions.
Newly introduced Friday Club Night has been running successfully for the past few weeks. Social Tennis is from 7pm until lights out. The bar is open from 7.30 pm until 11pm.

The Annual General Meeting was held at the club on Saturday 5 March at 4pm. Last year's Minutes and Accounts are on the Club Noticeboard.
The Clubs 90th AGM was the final one for Stephen Kerridge in his role as Treasurer after an extraordinary 33 years in the role. He hands over the reins to Adam Davies with the club in very good financial health. At the close of the meeting, Chairman Ian Price presented Stephen with an engraved whisky tantalus from the club as a gesture of thanks for all his work over the years.

The October Closed Mixed Tournament was held on 5 October in glorious weather with ten pairs taking part. Sally Witham/Waqar Bukhari beat Hilary Lewis/Sami Shaba in a closely fought final.
Hatch End Tennis Club run a Charity League every year during the spring, there are 4 divisions and the winners of each division receive £100 each for charities of their choice. A fun tournament was held at the club when the winning teams were presented with the cheques and shields. Ian Price, the Chairman of the Club and Sami Shaba, the coach, are photographed here with representatives of the winning clubs.
It’s that time of year again. We are restarting the singles ladder but reversing the rankings from last time so the top players will have to fight their way up with the winner being awarded the Bernard Dokelman Cup at the Winter Social in December.
This is open to all full members that would like to play some singles over the winter in a fun environment. If you feel you’d like to take part and can commit to playing one match (first to 9 games) every four weeks, then email Ian Price at firstname.lastname@example.org by close of play Monday, 5 October.
